Two Days National level Workshop on " Big Data Analytics"

Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with GeeksLab Delhi organized two days national level workshop on " Big Data Analytics" on February 17th and 18th 2018. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. K. G.Vishwanath and addressed the participants on the need for big data analytics in the 21st century and its applications in various industries such as retail,telecom industry etc. Prof. Praveen Chitti Dean and HOD presided over the function and gave the overview of contents of the two days workshop and Prof. Girish Uppin gave the overview of Geekslab Delhi and resource person. The workshop received the vast registrations of more than 60 participants.

Two-Day Faculty Development Program on

Python Application Development

(PAD 2017)

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi jointly organized a VTU sponsored two-day Faculty Development Program on “Python Application Development” on 25th and 26th November, 2017. The inauguration of the FDP was held at JCE Auditorium with welcome address by Dr. K. G. Vishwanath, Principal & Director, followed by Dr. Rashmi Rach, Associate Professor, VTU PG studies, presented overview of Python Application Development. She pointed out that VTU promotes Python since it is a more versatile, powerful, and dynamic programming language. She emphasized the necessity to have knowledge on python technology.

Dean and HOD, CSE, Prof. Praveen Y. Chitti, introduced the chief guest Dr. Satish Annigeri, Registrar (Evaluation), VTU, Belagavi. On completion of his introductory talk, Dr. Satish Annigeri, addressed the gathering and shared his experience and knowledge relevant to the topic of the FDP. He requested the faculty members to pursue new programming language to look for new direction. Furthermore, he pointed out that the IT world has been switched from proprietary software to the free open source software such as Python as one of the fast gaining technology. He also said that this FDP is a starting point for new journey for incorporating the technology to the teaching and learning. Followed by Prof. R. G. Dharwadkar gave a presidential remark. Finally, Prof. Mahantesh Devoor, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, JCE, proposed the vote of thanks.

Internet of Things with Raspberry Pi

The Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi organized a two-day National Workshop on “Internet of Things with Raspberry Pi” on 22nd and 23rd September, 7th & 8th October, 2017. The workshop was sessions were handled by Mr. Kailas, Project and Technical Engineer, Pantech ProEd. Pvt. Ltd, Pune. Students of B.E., Research Scholars, and Teaching faculty members from various colleges participated in the workshop and enhanced their awareness as well as practical knowledge.


Mr. Kailas highlighted the use of Internet of Things with live examples on its wide applications. He emphasized on IOT being the upcoming highlight in the technology field; uses of IOT, devices, platforms and services available along with real world application of electronics were demonstrated. The task of interfacing IR sensor was completed by the enthusiastic participants.


Using Raspberry Pi and Internet of things concept, the students were trained on various applications as part of this workshop wherein students applied their knowledge acquired in the workshop.

Earlier, inaugurating the workshop, the Principal & Director of the college Dr. K G Vishwanath, welcomed the resource person Mr. Kailas. Dr. K. Dhanasekaran briefed the importance of Internet of Things. During the valedictory function, students expressed their views and gave feedback about the workshop. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India Sponsored National Conference on “Advances in Computational Biology, Communication, and Data Analytics”, ACBCDA2017

On 13th May 2017, Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi, Karnataka organized a One-Day National Conference on “Advances in Computational Biology, Communication, and Data Analytics”, ACBCDA2017, which was sponsored by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India. Participants of various institutions across the nation were participated and presented their research papers. This Conference provided a platform for sharing of knowledge, ideas and present possible approaches to discover new solutions for the emerging problems.


This Conference showcased the importance of Computational Science and modern techniques in biological computation and system development. Various technological advancements and challenges in the field of Computational Biology and Data Analytics have been delivered by keynote speaker Dr. G. Shobha, Professor & Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru. She has discussed about bio-inspired computing for the analysis of pectin in citrus fruits using neural network. Moreover, she highlighted some of the applications of biological computing which include cancer prediction, drug discovery, gene interaction analysis, and so on.

This conference focused on computational biology, communication, and data analytics to explore and discuss new trends and opportunities in the relevant fields.

Prof. Praveen Y. Chitti, HOD, CSE, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. K. G. Vishwanath, Principal & Director, Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi. He emphasized the need for interdisciplinary Research and Development. Dr. K. Dhanasekaran, Associate Professor, CSE, briefed about the Conference with overview.

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Government of India Sponsored Two-Day National Level Seminar

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jain College of Engineering, Belagavi, conducted a two-day national level seminar on “Advances in Wireless Nano-Sensor Networks & Communications”, sponsored by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on 15th and 16th February,  2017 which coincided with the launch of 104 satellites using PSLV-37 Cartosat-2 by ISRO. The live telecast of the satellite launch was displayed to all the participants, before the inauguration of the seminar.

Dr. V. N. Mani, Scientist-E, Head, C-MET, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India, Hyderabad, addressed the participants on advances in the field of nanotechnology. He discussed about the various advantages of nanotechnology like increase in speed, efficient performance, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness. He also spoke about its applications in the fields of military and defense and the importance of nanotechnology in the development of the country. He emphasized that the future of research is in multidisciplinary technologies and hence motivated the post graduate students and research scholars to take up research in fields like nano-robotics and nano- pollution.

Dhanasekaran briefed the gathering with the overview about the two-day national seminar.  The session speakers Dr. R. M. Banakar, Dr. Santosh Deshpande, Dr. T. C. Thanuja, Dr. S. A. Kulkarni and Dr. Harish H. Kenchannavar delivered technical talk on emerging trends and advances in wireless nanosensor networks and communications. Prof. Prakash K. Sonwalkar, proposed the vote of thanks. About 80 participants and others attended the seminar.
